After an intensive tendering procedure, Unibail-Rodamco has selected a number of very experienced parties for the execution of Mall of the Netherlands. The contractor for the carcass work of the covered shopping centre is Ballast Nedam.
Otto Ambagtsheer, Managing Director of Unibail-Rodamco stated: “We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the selection procedure and have the fullest confidence that the contractors selected will bring our ambitious project to a successful conclusion.”
Cenk Düzyol, CEO of Ballast Nedam commented: “We are delighted that we have won this contract and can participate in this wonderful project. In addition to the carcass, we will also construct the complete facade and the underground car park. A partner like Unibail-Rodamco fits in perfectly with the strategy of our parent company Renaissance to develop projects worldwide via long-term relationships. We are therefore convinced that we will complete this project to their complete satisfaction.”
Mall of the Netherlands is being constructed on a subcontracting basis because of the flexibility required during the construction process and the possibility of incorporating the latest state of the art techniques in the construction. “In this way we can respond to the latest trends and developments within the retail, catering and leisure sectors. Unibail-Rodamco has purposely chosen Ballast Nedam, which together with the subcontractors will carry out this major operation, so that this causes as little disturbance as possible for the surrounding area and the present shops can remain operational as far as possible” added Teun Koek, Project Manager on behalf of Unibail-Rodamco.
