On Thursday 29 June 2017 a topping out ceremony was held at VUmc Imaging Center Amsterdam. VUmc and ‘De Beeldbouwers’ (a partnership between Ballast Nedam en ULC) took the opportunity to thank everybody for the joint effort and expressing confidence in the successful completion of the Imaging Center.
All the activities of VUmc that are related to imaging techniques will be concentrated at the new Imaging Center. The building consists of six floors and covers approximately 16,000 m2 and can be used flexibly. The building combines the research teams of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, BV Cyclotron and Laser Center. Enabling innovation and high-tech imaging equipment to be placed under one roof. The building needs to meet the high demands of the large number of imaging equipment, the high-quality laboratories and the strong diversity of users. The building needs to be quickly adaptable to the continuously developing of the research equipment.
Needless to say, the adjacent hospital remains in use during construction. Specific measures are taken to prevent any inconvenience. The VUmc Imaging Center Amsterdam to receive its first patients at the beginning of 2019.
