Hurks Group joins Ballast Nedam for significant regional impact

On December 13, 2024, Ballast Nedam and Hurks Group reached an agreement on the acquisition of Hurks by Ballast Nedam. With the proposed transaction, Ballast Nedam strengthens its market position in construction and project development, particularly in central and southern Netherlands.

To continue growing successfully in the Dutch market, Ballast Nedam focuses on further expanding its portfolio, which consists of established, decentralised construction companies in the region. Kemal Sağlam, CEO of Ballast Nedam, commented: “The addition of Hurks Group fully aligns with Ballast Nedam's strategic ambitions. With this joining, we strengthen our regional position. In expanding our business units, the focus is on family businesses with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.”

Niels Doodeman, member of the Board of Management of Ballast Nedam, adds: “With the inclusion of Hurks, we strengthen our presence in utility and residential construction in the fast-growing Brainport region of Eindhoven. This way, we strengthen our connection with customers and suppliers, which is the most important factor for us.”

Geert Hurks, owner and Managing Director of Hurks Groep: "The continuity and identity of the Hurks Groep is my top priority. The fact that both my sons have indicated that they do not wish to continue the company has led me to this decision. By joining Ballast Nedam, I am convinced that these two priorities will be successfully fulfilled and that Hurks will be of great added value to Ballast Nedam in realising its intended objectives.”

Hurks Group will retain its own identity and organisation after the acquisition. The parties will finalise the agreement after approval by the Authority for Consumers & Markets.
