The Green House Utrecht: constructed on the basis of circular thinking.

The building is completely demountable

The Green House

The Green House is a reusable pavilion in the heart of Utrecht, which is a component of the redevelopment of the former Knoop barracks. Together with Strukton, Facilicom and Albron, we recycled as many materials as possible and the pavilion was built in such a way that it can be fully reassemble in the future. In 15 years time, the pavilion can be moved to a different location.

A reusable pavilion

The Green House was built in such a way that it can be fully reassembled. In addition, we recycled as many materials as possible. The exterior wall panels, for example, have been sourced from the old Knoop barracks next door. In 15 years time, the pavilion can be moved to a different location, so the land could fulfill another purpose. This prepares both the land and the building for what the future holds.

Speedy construction

The Green House was built in just three months and opened its doors in spring 2018. This rapid construction was possible because we build completely remountable and use prefabricated elements and reuse as much as possible.

The Green House: an inspiring example for the circular economy

The pavilion serves as a source of inspiration for a new, circular economy over a period of fifteen years, while also providing visitors with an exceptional experience through its hospitality industry, working/meeting spaces and sustainable innovations. This means that the pavilion will add immediate value to the surrounding area. The aim is for the pavilion to touch and inspire a broad audience, thereby contributing to widespread social engagement with circular ideas and activities.
