The Student Hotel Amsterdam

We realise 258 rooms through modular building

The Student Hotel consists of 258 rooms, realised through modular building.

City Living commissioned Heddes Bouw & Ontwikkeling for this project. In close collaboration with Ursem Modulaire Bouwsystemen (UMBS) and Shouten Techniek, they have realised the Student Hotel along the Jan van Galenstraat in Amsterdam. UMBS was the supplier of prefab modules, which were transported to the construction site with trucks. The modules were produced in a factory in Wognum and already included a bathroom and furniture.
Schouten Techniek took care of the technical installation work. After the placement of the modules, they just needed to be connected. A great advantage of this method is that the progress will not depend on weather conditions. In addition, transportation is minimised.

The first module was placed on Friday the 26th of October. On December 5th the seventh layer of the first tower was finished, which thus only took 5.5 weeks. The facade was then finished by masonry. This happened at the same speed as the placement of the modules. The second and third tower also consist of seven construction layers. The towers will be connected with skywalks.
