Digitalisation and innovation
On Friday 6 December, Ballast Nedam Building Projects was the first in the Netherlands to receive the quality KitemarkTM for BIM. A direct result of proactively following market trends and responding to the further digitization of the sector. ISO 19650 BIM Design and Construction Kitemark™ is the internationally accepted ISO certificate, which means that in addition to Dutch quality standards, international standards are also met.
By obtaining the ISO certification, Ballast Nedam increases its transparency, efficiency and quality in projects and processes. All working methods of already existing processes for collecting, filtering and executing information are thus digitized and standardised". A conscious look at our processes and how we can organize them more efficiently is in our corporate DNA, which is why we wanted to take this step," says Serkan Sen. “Our recommendation to other companies that want to start the certificate is to look for procedures that are accepted for the entire company. We realised that BIM is more a matter of processes than modelling. To make these processes sustainable, it needs procedures and standards that are accepted throughout the company. "
In this process we appreciate the role of BSI Kitemark in the current construction sector, because it sets the standards and allows actors in the supply chain to speak the same language for digitalisation. BSI gave us a lot of insight during the process. They helped us understand how we can transform our current processes into those recommended according to ISO standards.
