Horizons Amsterdam: new generation of buildings
Amsterdam
Ballast Nedam Development signed a cooperation agreement with the municipality of Schiedam and Stichting Primo Schiedam for the redevelopment of the Peperkliplocatie in Schiedam. This area will have a new primary school, around 150 houses, a sports hall and social and commercial functions. It should make it a 'Heart of the District' for Schiedam Oost.
Alderman Antoinette Laan is delighted with Ballast Nedam Development's high sustainability ambitions and focus on a healthy living environment: "The Schiedam municipality wants to use this project to give a boost to the sustainable housing stock in Schiedam. By creating a heart with various social functions, the Peperkliplocatie will form the link between the station area, Schiedam-Oost, the new construction at Schieveste and the old city centre." The development of the Peperkliplocatie is part of the municipal area development SchieDistrict.
The primary school children and sports hall users should experience as little inconvenience as possible from this development. Therefore, a feasibility study is being carried out and Ballast Nedam Development will build in phases so that the school and sports halls can remain in use.
The winning vision, including the action plan, was developed in cooperation with several parties. Ballast Nedam Development was assisted by Kikx Development, MoederscheimMoonen Architects, Orange Architects, Felixx Landscape & Planners, &Flux, Stipo, Spark Parking and Climate Neutral Building.
