King Willem-Alexander celebrates 50th anniversary of Rotterdam Ahoy

Within the Hart van Zuid urban development, Ballast Nedam and Heijmans have ensured a major metamorphosis and expansion of Rotterdam Ahoy. For example, we have provided Ahoy with an international conference centre, a new swimming pool and a new theater with library (Pand Z).

Jolanda Jansen, general manager of Rotterdam Ahoy: "We are very pleased with the visit of the king in honor of our anniversary. After five decades of special moments and a turbulent period, we are hitting a milestone for the next 50 years. A future in a bigger and more versatile jacket, with our brand new RACC and RTM Stage."

Rapid transformation

King Willem-Alexander has unveiled an interactive artwork on the forecourt of Ahoy. The artwork was designed and produced by Arttenders x Jonas Vorwerk. 

Jolanda Jansen: "As part of the Hart van Zuid urban development, you can see Zuidplein and its surroundings rapidly transforming. Our forecourt will soon have a different, more intimate atmosphere with the arrival of a hotel and cinema."
