Amsterdam has a new bridge

Amsterdam has a new bridge: the Gerda Taro Bridge on IJburg

On IJburg in Amsterdam, the Gerda Taro Bridge has been delivered by Ballast Nedam Connect. The bridge has a steel-concrete structure, in which the steel and concrete fully cooperate with each other. The construction of these integrated steel-concrete structures is a rarity in the Netherlands.

The bridge connects the south side of Centrumeiland to Strandeiland and is part of a key route for construction traffic for building the houses on Strandeiland.

Good cooperation

Previous cooperation between the City of Amsterdam and Ballast Nedam Park & Connect in the realisation of the bicycle parking facility under the Leidseplein was so successful that we were keen to continue this. During the realisation of the Gerda Taro Bridge, there was one clear and shared objective in terms of cooperation: to carry out this project in a safe manner and with an eye for each other's interests, in coordination with the other surrounding projects and local residents.

The project was successful in its cooperation and execution with our client and our partners.
